Beach Rules
The following are found in Chapter 401A of the Town of Barnstable E-Code:

For the safety and enjoyment of all, the following policies and procedures are in
effect for all users:

• No littering or solicitation.
• No alcohol, fires or glass containers on the beach or in the parking lot.
• Dogs are not allowed at any time, on any beach/recreation area from May 15 –
   September 15.
• Swimming is allowed in designated swim areas only.
• Flotation devices are allowed during on-shore breezes only.
• Lifeguards are on duty (where available) from 9:00am – 5:00pm everyday
starting in late June.
• Restrooms are open from 9:00am – 4:30pm.
• Gates open at 9:00am and are locked promptly at 9:00pm. Parking fees are
collected from 9:00am – 3:45pm. Craigville Beach parking fees are collected
from 7:30am – 3:45pm (unless otherwise posted).
• Beaches that are staffed (including bathhouses) starting Memorial Day weekend
are: Veteran’s, Kalmus, Sea Street, Covell’s, Craigville and Dowse’s. All other
locations open in late June.
• Failure to comply with Beach Staff may result in loss of beach privileges,
punishment by fines, and/or arrest per Town of Barnstable by-laws.
• No disturbances or other breach of peace will be tolerated.
• All umbrellas must be secured properly and may not obstruct the lifeguard’s
view of the water. The use of umbrellas/tents may be suspended by staff if
weather conditions merit such action.
• Any person using obscenities, particularly in a threatening manner toward any
Town of Barnstable employee, will be asked to leave.
• Drones are prohibited from launching and/or landing on any Town of Barnstable
Beach.
• No smoking on any bathing beach or recreation area.
• Resident Parking Permits are required year-round (January 1st of the current year
through December 31st of the current year), at all posted beaches and Town Ways
to Water.
