GATE ATTENDANT JOB DESCRIPTION:
Gate Attendants are seasonal, outdoor employees responsible for providing courteous customer service, collecting parking and entrance fees, and verifying parking permits at Town of Barnstable waterfront sites. Employees are expected to interact professionally with the public and follow established procedures. Uniform sweatshirts and shirts are provided.
POSITION HOURS:
- Monday – Sunday, 3-5 days per week. Typical shifts are 8:30 AM-4:00 PM, 9:00 AM-4:30 PM or 7:00 AM-4:00 PM, depending on waterfront sites. Schedules vary by site and assigned days off.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must possess American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

J.F.K MEMORIAL GATE ATTENDANT JOB DESCRIPTION:
JFK Memorial Gate Attendants are seasonal, outdoor employees who support the daily operations of the JFK Memorial site. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors, providing site information, selling JFK Memorial hats, collecting donations, monitoring traffic and parking compliance, and assisting with site security. Uniform shirts are provided.
POSITION HOURS:
- Monday – Sunday, including all weekends and holidays throughout the term of employment. Typical shift is 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Employees typically work 3–5 days per week. Schedules vary based on operational needs of the JFK Memorial site.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- High School diploma or equivalent
- American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the public
- Ability to remain calm and professional in busy or stressful situations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

BEACH AIDE JOB DESCRIPTION:
Beach Aides are seasonal employees who work both indoors and outdoors to assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of waterfront facilities. Duties also include providing customer service and supporting the Beach Supervisor as needed. Uniform sweatshirts and shirts are provided.
POSITION HOURS:
- Monday – Sunday, 3-4 days per week, 12:00 PM-5:00 PM. Schedule vary by site and assigned days off.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 14 years of age or older.
- American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification is recommended.
